Abstract
[(DippNH)(2)Al(mu-NHDipp)(2)Li . thf] 1 and [thf . Li(mu-NHCy)(3)Sn(mu -NHCy)(3)Li . thf]. C6H5Me 2 are produced from the reactions of AlCl3 and SnCl4 or MeAlCl2 and MeSn(NMe2)(3) with the appropriate primary am ido lithium precursors [RNHLi; R = 2,6-(Pr2C6H3)-C-i (Dipp), C6H11 (CY )]; both complexes have ion-paired structures in the solid state with the retention of potentially reactive N-H functionality providing prec ursors for heterometallic species containing [M(NR)(x)(NHR)(n-x)]((1+x ))(-) anions (M = Al, n = 4; M = Sn, n = 6).
