Abstract
Solvents to be used to increase solubility of toluene in water are exa mined. The study is carried out using the UNIFAC-LLE group model to pr edict the fold point compositions and from this information to delucid ate the suitable solvents to be used. Methanol, ethanol, acetone and a cetonitrile were tried as solvents. The toluene solubility in water in the presence of various methanol concentrations was also experimental ly determined. Only methanol and ethanol have a positive influence on toluene solubility in water.
