The data on proton-nucleus interactions measured in 1982 at the CERN S
PS were parametrized within the multichain model. Since that time very
accurate new measurements have been made by the EHS-NA22 Collaboratio
n, which require a more accurate new description of multiparticle prod
uction processes. In this paper we do this parametrization for the rap
idity distributions of meson (pi+ and K+) and proton interactions with
protons at the laboratory momentum of 250 GeV/c. We examine the self-
consistency of the two-chain model of soft hadronic interactions and e
xtrapolate it to the hadron-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions. Th
e comparison of the model predictions with the data is presented and s
atisfactory agreement between the data and our parametrization at squa
re-root s approximately 20 GeV is achieved.
