The Arabic Children's Depression Inventory and the Beck Depression Inv
entory were administered to 109 Kuwaiti school students whose ages ran
ged from 14 to 18 years. Pearson correlations for total score on the t
wo scales were .57, .83, and .75 for boys, girls, and the combined gro
up, respectively, denoting the convergent validity of the new Arabic i
nventory against the Beck Depression Inventory as criterion.
