Abstract
The nucleon-pair shell model truncated to the S-D subspace is applied to the barium isotopes Ba-130-Ba-136. The effects of the single-partic le energy splitting on collectivities are examined. The main features of the low-lying collective states of the nuclei, especially for nucle i with a larger number of pairs, are well reproduced by a shell model Hamiltonian with three parameters.
