Abstract
The experimental results of Faraday rotation (FR) measurements in the sample with Eu3+ ion at 4 K in high magnetic fields up to 700 T ('Dira c Series' - Los Alamos) are presented. The magnetic held is produced b y the explosive-driven flux-compression generator MC-1. Measurements h ave been carried using 850 nm light at liquid helium temperature. The magnetic held-induced quantum reorientation of the spin and orbital ma gnetic moments in the Sm3+ and Eu3+ ions have been investigated. (C) 1 998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
