Abstract
Magnetization measurements were performed on manganites with the perov skite structure R1/2Ca1/2MnO3 (R=Pr, Nd and Sm) in pulsed high magneti c fields up to 100 T. In the charge-ordered state, application of magn etic induced metamagnetic-like phase transitions with hystereses sugge sting collapses of the charge ordering. Experiments on various crystal s with different R revealed a distinct relationship between the tolera nce factor and transition fields. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All r ights reserved.
