Abstract
ELISA methods were used to determine the concentrations of CAI and CAI I in spermatozoa, seminal plasma, ovarian follicular fluid, decidual t issues, chorionic villi and various fetal tissues at 8-11 weeks gestat ion. Both CAI and CAII were expressed in all subjects except ovarian f ollicular fluid samples. The possible physiological role(s) of carboni c anhydrases in fertilization, implantation and fetal development are discussed. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ireland Ltd. All rights reserved.
