Abstract
Treatment of the macropolyhedral double-cluster anion [S2B17H18](-) wi th oxidising acids quantitatively generates neutral [S2B17H17], charac terised as its anion [S2B17H16](-). A significant change of similar to 34 degrees in the mutual orientation of the two sub-clusters is assoc iated with this two-electron oxidation. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
