The magnetooptic Kerr effect has been applied in the case of non - ori
ented steel where small and desoriented grains have long discuraged an
y domain observations. With aid of newly developed method of magnetisa
tion measurement the flux distribution in limited areas has been analy
sed. Through careful investigation along the hysteresis loop and image
s taken at two orthogonal sample orientation interesting local informa
tions have been gathered but no magnetic features quantifiable in term
s of the overall material performances.
