Bz. Xu et al., IMPULSE TRANSFER TO THE SURFACE OF ALUMINUM AND COPPER FROM A PULSED ND-YAG LASER, Applied physics. B, Photophysics and laser chemistry, 57(4), 1993, pp. 277-280
Impulse coupling coefficients in air from 1.06 mum, 10 ns, Nd:YAG puls
ed-laser radiation to aluminum and copper targets are measured using t
he ballistic pendulum method in the laser power-density range from 2.0
x 10(8) W/cm2 to 4.0 x 10(9) W/cm2. A modified laser-supported detona
tion (LSD) wave and cylindrical blast wave theory incorporating the va
porization model is proposed to calculate the impulse coupling coeffic
ients. It is found that the theoretical results obtained with the modi
fied model agree well with the experimental data.
