A. Tekin, MECHANICAL SMALL-BOWEL OBSTRUCTION SECONDARY TO SPILLED STONES, Journal of laparoendoscopic & advanced surgical techniques-Part A, 8(3), 1998, pp. 157-159
Gallstone spillage at the time of laparoscopic cholecystectomy is a co
mmon problem that occurs in approximately 5% of procedures, However, e
ven with this high incidence of spillage, there are only a few reports
related to the complication of spilled stones, We encountered a patie
nt who developed mechanical small-bowel obstruction secondary to spill
ed stones following laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The patient required
prompt laparotomy because of small bowel obstruction on the 8th posto
perative day.
