TRICYCLIC DITERPENES FROM HYPTYS-DILATATA

Tricyclic diterpenes with the abietane skeleton have been isolated fro m the aerial parts of Hyptis dilatata. In addition to 12 well known co mpounds, two new compounds have been isolated and identified as 11,12 diacetoxy-7 beta-methoxy-8,11,13-abietatrien-20, 6 beta-olide (epimeth ylrosmanol) and 11,12 diacetoxy-7 beta-ethoxy-8,11,13-abietatrien-20,6 beta-olide (epiethylrosmanol). Their structures have been determined by spectroscopic methods using 2D correlation experiments (H-1-C-13) H MBC and HMQC. Esquirolin B with the pimaran skeleton has been isolated as well.
