A comparison was made between CDS/ISIS, its Windows version WINISIS, a
nd InMagic's INMAGIC and DB/TextWorks software. Packages were evaluate
d for their database creation, information retrieval and report produc
tion capabilities. Windows versions were found to provide significant
enhancements over DOS versions of software. The evaluation aimed to de
termine the advantages to a developing country of creating bibliograph
ic databases using commercial software.
