Abstract
Single crystals of BaIn2Zn3O7 have been prepared by solid state reacti on and crystallization from flux. X-ray investigations led to hexagona l symmetry, space group C-6v(4)-P6(3)mc, lattice constants a = 6.342(1 ), c = 10.282(1) Angstrom, Z = 2. BaIn2Zn3O7 shows tetrahedral positio ns statistically occupied by In3+ and Zn2+. The crystal structure is i sotypic to Ba(2)Ln(2)Zn(8)O(13) and BaLnAlZn(3)O(7). A discussion of t he related compounds is given.
