M. Breuer et al., FE-57 AND SN-119 MOSSBAUER STUDIES ON LA1.25ND0.6SR0.15CUO4 - EVIDENCE FOR LOCAL MAGNETIC-ORDERING BELOW SIMILAR-OR-EQUAL-TO-32-K, Zeitschrift fur Physik. B, Condensed matter, 92(3), 1993, pp. 331-334
Fe-57- and Sn-119 Mossbauer effect studies on 0.5 at % Fe-57 (or Sn-11
9) doped non-superconducting La1.25Nd0.6Sr0.15CuO4 in the temperature
region 300 K greater-than-or-equal-to T greater-than-or-equal-to 4.2 K
reveal an onset of local magnetic ordering occurring at T(M) congruen
t-to 32 K for both Fe-57 - as well as Sn-119-doped samples. The local
magnetic ordering shows up in the presence of a very large transferred
hyperfine field of B(thf) congruent-to 11.0(5) T at the Sn-119 nuclei
. Since such a large field is neither present in antiferromagnetic La2
CuO4, nor in superconducting La1.85Sr0.15CuO4 or overdoped La2-xSrxCuO
4 (x=0.4), the occurrence of such local spin correlations seems to be
a signature of the non-superconducting low temperature tetragonal phas
e of La1.25Nd0.6Sr0.15CuO4.
