Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), an infection of the female genital
tract, presents a number of difficult challenges in diagnosis and mana
gement. Adolescents in particular require aggressive care of PID to pr

his article reviews the etiology, microbiology, diagnosis, and managem
ent of PID, with an emphasis on treating adolescents with PID.
