Ds. Rykunov et al., SEQUENCE-BASED RECOGNITION OF PROTEIN FOLDS USING THE THREADING METHOD AND FRAMEWORKS OF GLOBULAR-PROTEINS, Molecular biology, 32(3), 1998, pp. 428-438
Structural frameworks of native proteins and the ''threading'' method
based on self-consistent molecular field theory are quite useful for r
ecognition of protein folds. Testing on proteins of different structur
al classes showed that the native fold is often recognized as the best
(the most stable) fold or at least one of the best folds. Permutation
of native protein frameworks provides for recognition of a fold absen
t from the initial set of native protein structures.
