Abstract
We present here results of X-ray reflectivity and diffuse scattering s tudy of three Langmuir-Blodgett films, all having nine monolayers. The se systems are the cadmium arachidate film grown using the conventiona l method, the arachidic acid him with trapped CdS layers at the interf aces formed by exposing the cadmium arachidate film to hydrogen sulphi de and ferric stearate film grown from a monolayer of the pre-formed s alt on water. Self-consistent analysis of all the scattering data meas ured, viz., in specular, in transverse and in longitudinal directions, for each him shows that the interfaces are conformal in nature and th e logarithmic in-plane correlation characteristic of capillary waves o n liquid surfaces, exists in all the three films.
