Abstract
In order to list all cases of human visceral leishmaniasis diagnosed i n Tunisia during 1993, a retrospective study, based on the epidemiolog ical record of the ministry of health and investigations in the most i mportant hospitals on the north, was performed. 153 cases were reporte d essentially in children of 1 to 3 years of age (64%). The cases were distributed mainly in the north and the center of Tunisia. This study confirmed the increase of the incidence of visceral leishmaniasis and its geographical extention to the center of the country these last ye ars.
