Abstract
Prolactin responses to d-fenfluramine (d-FEN) Challenge (0.5 mg/kg PO) were examined after pretreatment with and without acute tryptophan de pletion (ATD) in six physically healthy male volunteers. Compared to p retreatment with SHAM-ATD, ATD pretreatment attenuated the PRL respons e to d-FEN Challenge in all subjects. These data suggest that PRL resp onses to d-FEN challenge reflect to a substantial degree the activity of newly synthesized 5-HT.
