Viscosities of solutions of the alkali metal bromides, MBr (M+ = Li, N
a, K, Rb, and Cs), Bu4NBr, and NaBPh4 have been measured in 8-methoxy-
1-ethanol (1) + water (2) mixtures at 298.15 K. The data have been ana
lyzed using the Jones-Dole equation in the form of unassociated electr
olytes when ion association does not occur in solution as found from c
onductance measurements, but the following equation eta(r) = 1 + A(alp
ha C)1(/2) + B(i)alpha C + B-p(1 - alpha)C has been used for the elect
rolytes where ion association occurs. The ionic B coefficients and oth
er single-ion parameters have been determined using Bu4NBPh4 as the ''
reference electrolyte''. The results have been discussed in terms of i
on-solvent interactions and the structural changes of the mixed solven
t as the mole fraction of organic solvent is increased in the mixture.
