Tk. Varadarajan et al., ION-SOLVATION BEHAVIOR OF SOME COPPER(II) SALTS IN ISODIELECTRIC SOLVENT MIXTURES OF METHANOL AND N-METHYL-2-PYRROLIDINONE AT 30-DEGREES-C, Journal of chemical and engineering data, 43(4), 1998, pp. 527-531
The selective solvation behavior of copper(II) iodate, formate, and be
nzoate in the isodielectric solvent mixtures of methanol and N-methyl-
2-pyrrolidinone has been studied using the standard Gibbs transfer ene
rgies and solvent transport number measurements. The standard Gibbs tr
ansfer energies of various ions were determined on the basis of the te
traphenylarsonium tetraphenylborate (TATB) assumption. The results wer
e interpreted in terms of heteroselective solvation of all the salts w
ith copper(II) ion being selectively solvated by N-methyl-2-pyrrolidin
one and anions by methanol.
