The application of chromatography as a testing method for properties o
f surfaces is considered. Examples are provided of employing chromatog
raphy for studying the geometry and surface chemistry of solids and so
rbents of various nature, such as non-porous silica, non-porous ionic
adsorbent on barium sulfate base, porous v-iron oxide and polymer sorb
ents. The high sensitivity of the chromatographic method in investigat
ing the changes in the texture and the chemical state of the surface a
re shown.
