The pharmacokinetics of ifosfamide and some metabolites in children wa
s investigated. The patients received various doses of ifosfamide, mos
tly by continuous infusion, over several days. The penetration of ifos
famide and its metabolites into the cerebrospinal fluid was also studi
ed in foul cases. Ifosfamide and 4-hydroxyifosfamide pass the blood-br
ain barrier, reaching cerebrospinal fluid concentrations that are almo
st as high as plasma concentrations.
