We present 2 cases of histologically identified necrotizing vasculitis
found in the seminal vesicles of radical prostatectomy specimens cont
aining prostatic adenocarcinoma. In neither case did the patient suffe
r from symptoms nor show signs of systemic vasculitis. In 1 case, the
vasculitis correlated clinically with dense adhesions noted at surgery
that simulated extraprostatic tumor extension. Isolated vasculitis of
the seminal vesicle is similar to reports of isolated vasculitis limi
ted to other organs, in that local clinical findings may or may not be
present, but the patient is free of systemic disease. Careful clinica
l follow-up is warranted to exclude the subsequent development of syst
emic vasculitis in these patients. (C) 1998, Elsevier Science Inc. All
