B. Lepioufle et al., NONLINEAR BEHAVIOR OF BATTERIES ASSOCIATE D TO POWER ELECTRONICS - STATE OF CHARGE INDICATOR, EUROPEAN PHYSICAL JOURNAL-APPLIED PHYSICS, 2(3), 1998, pp. 257-265
In this paper, the nonlinear behaviour of electrochemical cells submit
ted to high level current pulses is examined. Gas creation caused by c
urrent charge pulses, leads to an higher impedance of the cell. A batt
ery state of charge (SOC) indicator based on this phenomenon is then p
roposed. Indeed, fusion of data provided by response to different curr
ent pulses (different levels, different duration, charge or discharge
pulses) permits to give an accurate SOC indication. An experimental SO
C indicator test-bench for lead-acid batteries is finally presented in
this article. The discharge mode is taken into account in the algorit
hm.
