Abstract
This paper presents and discusses a logical apparatus which may be use d to support machine-based inferencing and automatic creation of hyper text links in what we call hypermedia-based argumentation decision sup port systems (HADSS). This logical approach has important advantages o ver other sorts of argument representation, found in the current liter ature. We present and discuss a prototype implementation in the contex t of three examples. We also present an exploratory experiment indicat ing that graph-based logical representations can materially help peopl e make better inferences. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights re served.
