This work deals with the interaction between nickel-base superalloys a
nd gaseous environments at high-temperatures. The oxidation acid nitri
dation behaviour of the three singlecrystalline nickel-base superalloy
s CMSX-6, CMSX-2, and SRR99 were investigated in air and oxygen-free n
itrogen atmospheres at temperatures between 800 degrees C and 1200 deg
rees C. The influence of mechanical deformation on the growth of oxide
scales was studied on fatigued samples of the singlecrystalline nicke
l-base superalloy CMSX-6.
