Abstract
The Tyrrhenian coastal calcarenites of the Malia area (northern Crete) are studied by an original method of correlation, derived from C. Dur let's modified method, using the succession of diagenetic stages ar; s equences. This method makes it possible to correlate sedimentary units which are different in origin (marine, fluviatile, aeolian) and previo usly difficult to be linked on the basis of their palaeontological or textural indices. Following this method, different deposits have been attributed to the same marine Tyrrhenian time.
