Abstract
A new kind of Mannich-type reaction involving an intramolecular cataly sis mechanism was applied for the synthesis of alpha-aminogermyl phosp honic esters. It was found that the carbonyl group was activated by th e coordination between the oxygen atom and the germanium atom. Differe nt amines were investigated under the same reaction conditions. The st ructures of the products were determined by H-1, P-31 NMR, IR spectra, and elemental analysis.
