Abstract
Metathesis of the chloride anion in the mesomorphic lanthanide complex es [LnL(LH)(2)][Cl](2) (LH = salicylaldimine; Ln = lanthanide element) by dodecyl sulfate (DOS) leads to the complexes [LnL(LH)(2)][DOS](2), which have wider mesomorphic ranges and lower clearing points.
