Investigations into the melt crystallization of caprolactam in suspens
ion by means of a special developed an MSMPR crystallizer are presente
d. The effect of the process operating conditions and the concentratio
n of water in caprolactam on the kinetics of the crystallization and o
n the median size of crystals was determined. The obtained results are
presented in the form of relationships which can be used in the desig
n of crystallizers for the melt crystallization of caprolactam and for
the choice of operating conditions for a larger scale process.
