Pyrimidinthione 1 was reacted with benzylidenemalononitrile 2 to yield
pyrimidothiazine 4. The synthesis of arylidenothiazolopyrimidines 7 w
as achieved by the reaction of chloroacetic acid, aldehydes and pyrimi
dinthione 1 in the presence of base. Aminothiazolopyrimidine 9 was obt
ained from the reaction of compound 1 with chloroacetonitrile. Reactio
n of ethyl bromoacetate with compound 1 afforded ethoxycarbonylmethylm
ercaptopyrimidine 10. Compound 1 was reacted with NaOCl in the presenc
e of NaOH/NH4OH to give sulphenamide 13 that undergoes cyclization by
using benzoyl chloride to give 14.
