Abstract
A comparative study of reaction between chalcones and thiourea has bee n undertaken. In this reaction, yield and nature of products are depen dent only on substituents in chalcones. The major products of the reac tion are 2-mercaptopyrimidines. The synthesized 2-mercaptopyrimidines were screened for their anticancer antitubercular and anti AIDS activi ties, as well as for their antimicrobial activity.
