Abstract
Light microscopic, scanning electron microscopic and elemental X-ray m icroanalytical observations of ferrous cave concretions from north-eas t of Tchigai mountains (Niger) permitted the characterisation of the g enesis conditions of karstification in this region. The speleothems sh ow at least two phases marking the drying of an aquifer, in relation w ith the present landscape shaping. A significant mobilisation of Si co nfirms the ferro-siliceous nature of the karst in this part of Niger.
