Abstract
One of the typical features of the Male Karpaty Mts. are extensive lev elled paleokarst plateaus. They are developed on carbonate sequences ( limestones and dolomites) of Middle and Upper Triassic age and collaps e breccias of the Upper Cretaceous. The Upper Cretaceous-Paleocene kar at period was interrupted by the Eocene marine transgression. Karst pr ocesses were probably reactivated as early as in the Miocene.
