Abstract
We report a method for the synthesis of sodium or potassium colloids a t room temperature under nitrogen. The colloids, formed within a prote ctive matrix of alkali metal halide and a polysilane polymer, are rema rkably air-stable. The UV-visible and EPR spectroscopic characterisati on of the colloids is described.
