The low temperature specific heat of the metal cluster molecular compo
unds Au55(PPh3)12Cl6, Pt309 Phen36O30 and Pd561Phen37O200, with resp.
55, 309 and 561 core atoms are compared. For T approximately 1 K, Pt3
09 and Pd561 show a linear contribution to C/R of about 1/3 of the bul
k value. A Poisson distribution of the electronic energy levels is sug
gested as an explanation.
