S. Tarasiewicz et al., MODELING SIMULATION AND CONTROL OF THE WOOD DRYING PROCESS - PART 2 -VARIABLE CONTROL-STRUCTURE, Drying technology, 16(6), 1998, pp. 1085-1100
The wood drying process (WDP), is described by an internal model (IM),
contains four drying periods and a few different structures of mathem
atical model. For a given state variables measured accuracy, using pie
cewise linear approximation to analyse operating functions of these st
ructures, a horizon of WDP can be determined. Based on this feature, a
n observer is established, which can produce estimated state variables
and estimated operating functions, thereby, the time delay can be com
pensated. Applying a minimum consumption of energy and minimum drying
time with the constrain of wood quality as the performance index, a re
ference system model (RSM) is created and a switching space will be ca
lculated to decide reference trajectories of WDP.
