Abstract
A novel method of synthesis from catechol of the pyridino[4,3,2-de]qui noline nucleus structurally related to discorhabdin alkaloids is devel oped. Proof of the position of the chlorine substituent in the key chl orination step was obtained by x-ray diffraction analysis of an interm ediate (8) under bar.
