Abstract
Stereoselective one-step synthesis of a new -tetrahydro-2H-1,3-benzoxa zocine-5-thiocarboxamide (3)under-bar from readily available 2-oxo-2H- 1-benzapyran-3-thio-carboxamide (2)under-bar has been described. The s tructure of (3)under-bar has been elucidated by x-ray crystallography and NMR spectroscopy. Using the thioamide group of (3)under-bar as a s ynthon, compound (5)under-bar with 1,3-benzoxazocine, thiazole and cou marin moieties has been synthesized.
