Abstract
Berteric [(4E, 8E, 12E, 16E)-3, 7, 11, 15, 19-pentahydroxy-2, 6, 10, 1 2, 14, 16, 18, 20-octamethyldocosa-4, 8, 12, 16-tetraenoic], cameronic ,10,14,16,18-hexamethylicosa-4,8,12,16-tetraenoic] and malaysic 10,14 ,16,20-hexamethyldocosa-4,8,12,16-tetraenoic] acids are acids related to cubensic acid and have been isolated from the mycelium of three dif ferent Xylaria speces; berteric acid occurs in the mycelium of Xylaria berterii (Mont.) Cooke, the other two are from as yet unidentified sp ecies.
