,16,20-hexamethyldocosa-4,8,12,16-tetraenoic] acids are acids related
to cubensic acid and have been isolated from the mycelium of three dif
ferent Xylaria speces; berteric acid occurs in the mycelium of Xylaria
berterii (Mont.) Cooke, the other two are from as yet unidentified sp
ecies.
