Abstract
A patient with pericardial tamponade secondary to malignant pericardia l effusion underwent pericardiocentesis followed by intrapericardial i nstillation of recombinant interferon alfa-2b (INTRON A; Schering-Plou gh; Kenilworth NJ). The patient subsequently received a full course of chemotherapy and radiation therapy for her primary malignant tumor an d experienced no recurrence of the pericardial effusion.
