Xn. Xu et al., FIELD DISTRIBUTION OF A CYLINDER-SHAPED TYPE-II SUPERCONDUCTOR WITH LIMITED AXIAL LENGTH, Journal of superconductivity, 11(3), 1998, pp. 353-359
The self-field effects (B) over right arrow' of bulk magnetization cur
rent are considered when the applied field (B) over right arrow(a) is
parallel to the rotation axis of a cylinder-shaped type-II superconduc
tor with limited axial length L and radius R, and by using finite-elem
ent analysis in a self-consistent way, the field-dependent magnetizati
on current density function J(m)(/B/) [(B) over right arrow(rho, z) =
(B) over right arrow(a) + (B) over right arrow'(rho, z)], the current
density, and the field distributions are derived from magnetic moment
hysteresis loop m(B-a) for the superconductor with full field penetrat
ion. When B-a much greater than B-p, the average field inside the cyli
nder [B] = mu(0)[H-a + f(c)(L/2R)M] in the Bean model approximation, a
nd the function f(c)(L/2R) is quantitively given for arbitrary paramet
er L/2R, where B-a = mu(0)H(a) and M = m/(pi (RL)-L-2). In addition, t
he influences of the self-field on the measured m(B-a) loop are discus
sed.
