Measurements of Giant magnetoimpedance (GMI) in Go-rich amorphous wire
s are compared with magnetic measurements in polycrystalline ZnMn ferr
ites as a function of frequency (5Hz-13MHz) and a superimposed de magn
etic field, aiming to simulate GMI conditions. It is found that, excep
t for the scale differences expected in these two different materials,
frequency phenomena are essentially similar. In particular, both prop
erties set can be represented by using the same equivalent-circuit app
roach. These results point to a domain wall damping effect of the de f
ield, and a reduced role of macroscopic eddy currents.
