Kh. Shin et al., PREPARATION AND PROPERTIES OF ELASTICALLY COUPLED ELECTROMAGNETIC ELEMENTS WITH A BONDING STRUCTURE, IEEE transactions on magnetics, 34(4), 1998, pp. 1324-1326
Elastically coupled electro-magnetic(EM) elements were constructed and
their fundamental properties were studied so as to examine whether th
e elements exhibit considerable EM effect at room temperature. The ele
ments had a hybrid structure, in which highly magnetostrictive amorpho
us FeCoSiB films deposited on a thin glass substrate mete bonded on PZ
T piezoelectric substrates. When a dc voltage was applied to the eleme
nt, large changes in magnetic properties of the PeCoSiB film were obse
rved: for example, by applying de voltages ranging from -200V to +200V
, change in magnetic permeability of the film reached about 1680%. It
was also demonstrated that high frequency impedance of the element was
subject to change with a de voltage. These unique characteristics of
the elements are considered to be very attractive for constructing sma
rt actuators with a sensing function.
