M. Enokizono et al., FABRICATION OF A MAGNETIC DRIVE UNIT FOR THAT MOVES IN THE SAME DIRECTION OF THE EXCITING MAGNETIC-FIELD, IEEE transactions on magnetics, 34(4), 1998, pp. 2087-2089
This paper presents two kinds of drive units in which the axes of rota
tion are parallel to the exciting outer magnetic field. The first kind
is a magnetic-pole type using a silicon steel sheet to provide radial
components of field strength. The second kind is a paddle type using
the vibration of an amorphous ribbon to induce rotational forces. The
drive units were developed to improve the freedom of movement of sensi
ng devices. By combining the developed units with the conventional one
s, it will be possible to control the movement of devices freely by ma
nipulating the external magnetic field. In this paper, the basic chara
cteristics of the drive units and their applicability are discussed.
