Abstract
cruciate ligament injury occurs frequently in dogs and leads to stifle joint instability; and degenerative osteoarthritis. Surgical stabilis ation of a cruciate-deficient stifle joint is recommended for dogs wei ghing more than 15 kg to preserve joint and limb functions. Numerous s uccessful intra- and estracapsular procedures have been described to r educe abnormal cranial displacement and internal rotation of the tibia following cruciate Ligament injury. Concurrent medial meniscal tears should also be treated in a cruciate-deficient stifle joint to reduce patient morbidity and hasten functional recovery.
