There are about 30 currant- and sultana;finishing plants in Greece. Me
thods of washing-water use and wastewater treatment and analysis are d
escribed. A ease study of currant-wastewater treatment is analysed. Ch
emical coagulation, acidification, methanization, extended aeration, e
vapotranspiration are used. Advanced oxidation of treated effluent usi
ng physicochemical processes was applied to decrease COD and colour to
values appropriate for irrigation and underground aquifer recharge. (
